Privacy policy

Witsprint is a practice app for mental math, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. We collect as little as we can: no names, no email addresses, no contacts, no photos, no location, and no advertising. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep, why, who helps us run the app, and how to delete it.
What we collect
- A random account number. When you finish the age question, the app makes an account with a random ID, so your progress is saved. You don't sign up or give us any details.
- Your age range, not your birthday. We keep only 13 to 15, 16 to 17, or 18 or older. It comes from your answer, or from your iPhone if you let Apple share your age range. We use it only for the age rules below, never for advertising or analytics.
- Your practice. The questions you get, your answers, how long each one took, and your results: XP, level, streak, gems, and achievements. Our server re-checks every answer, so progress stays fair.
- A few settings. Your daily goal, and your time zone, which tells the app when your day starts. The time zone is a setting like "America/New_York", not your location.
- If you save your progress with Apple: the private ID Apple gives us for your Apple Account, so you can sign in again on another iPhone. We ask Apple for no name and no email.
- How the app is used. Events like "finished a set" or "changed a setting", tied to your random account ID, with your device type, iOS version, app version, and language. We never send your device's name, your age range, or your location.
- Crash reports. When the app crashes: what went wrong, your device type, iOS and app versions, and your random account ID. No IP address.
Sound, haptics, and theme settings stay on your iPhone. We don't track you across other apps or websites, we don't show ads, and we don't sell or share your data for advertising.
Why we use it
- To run the app: save your progress, count your streak, and pick questions at the right level.
- To keep it fair: re-check answers and spot results that look like cheating.
- To fix crashes and see which parts of the app work well, so we can improve it.
- To follow the age rules below.
Age rules
Witsprint is for people 13 and older. If the age question says someone is under 13, the app stops there and keeps nothing. If we learn that a child under 13 has an account, we delete it. Players under 18 get extra protections as we add features with other players. If you think a child under 13 is using Witsprint, email us.
Who helps us run the app
These companies process data for us, only to run the app, all in the United States:
- Supabase: our database and sign-in. Your account and progress live there.
- PostHog: usage analytics.
- Sentry: crash reports.
- Apple: the App Store, Sign in with Apple, and the age range, under Apple's own privacy policy.
We share data with no one else, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Your account and progress: until you delete your account.
- Individual answers older than 18 months: combined into totals, and the individual answers deleted.
- Usage events: up to 1 year, then PostHog deletes them.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days, then Sentry deletes them.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Profile, Settings, Account, Delete account. It deletes your account and everything stored with it on our servers right away, along with the copy on your iPhone. Usage events and crash reports that are already sent stay tied only to a random ID that no longer links to any account, until they're deleted on the schedule above.
Deleting the app from your iPhone doesn't delete your account. To delete everything, use Delete account first, or email us and we'll do it for you.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing us. Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you more rights; we'll honor them.
Security
Everything the app sends is encrypted in transit. On our servers, access rules let each player read only their own data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For important changes, we'll also tell you in the app.
